About Us
“Cyber bullying involves the use of communication technologies such as the internet, social networking sites, websites emails, text messages, text pictures, and instant messages to repeatedly intimidate or harass others” (RCMP, 2016). We feel passionate about the topic of cyberbullying. Who hasn't been cyber bullied or known other students who have been cyber bullied? Who hasnt felt the knot inside their stomach when someone has made a cruel comment directed at them on twitter or felt the pain associated with an unwanted picture being posted or the anger or sadness that results from cyberbullying? How many times have you felt like not going to school because of these unpleasant experiences? How many times have you actually felt fearful or afraid because of comments directed at you on the internet?
We feel passionate about ending these experiences and feelings so we want to talk about it through blogging. We want to talk about what causes teens to hurt each other through social media, what social theories might help us understand the issue, and see if we can suggest some creative solutions to stopping it. Given that cyberbullying is a complex issue and involves not just the students, but teachers and parents as well, what better way to share and pool ideas than to do it through blogging.
